Today ended the long weekend for us. I just got back from being up north for 4 days. It was a lot of fun like I said in my last blog it was my dad and I and then Joel and Sam Matheson. We had a ton of fun. The first night we stayed at Lake Polly and the camp site we stayed at was amazing! The next day we headed up to Malberg, this lake is really pretty, our camp site there was pretty good too, but im not sure any of the sites could beat the one we stayed at on Lake Polly. If you dont remember from my last blog, the boundary waters is up north, and there are many different entry points you can start at, once you portage and paddle in aways you are far from the real world it is so peaceful and nice. Portaging is where there is a gap of land between lakes and you have to take everything out of the canoe and hike to the next area. They are measured in what they call "rods" A rod is about the length of a canoe, or 5 yards. None of the portages this year were to tough the longest one we had was 136 rods. And although it might seem easy its not, because you are either carrying a heavy canoe, or a really heavy pack! The ground isnt flat either there are a lot of rocks and hills along the way, but its totally worth it once you get to the spot you want! I highly suggest you think about going sometime if you havent already!
k bye
